RESIDENCE PERMITS

What documents must be submitted, if you want to get a residence permit in Latvia as a person who has acquired and owns one or more real properties located in Riga, Riga Planning Region, or a city of the Republic of Latvia with the total value of the transactions not less than 100,000 Lats or one or more real properties located outside of Riga, Riga Planning Region, or a city of the Republic of Latvia* with total transaction value not less than 50,000 Lats under the condition that:

1. you don’t have real property tax debts;
   
2. the transaction value has been paid by non-cash means of payment;
3. the property was acquired from the registered legal entities or natural person, which is a Latvian citizen, Latvian non-citizen, EU citizen or a foreigner with a valid residence permit;
4. the total cadastral value of the purchased properties is not less than:
1. 30 000 lats in Riga planning region or cities
   
2. 10 000 lats outside Riga planning region or cities

You shall present a valid travel document admitted in the Republic of Latvia and submit the following documents:

• a definite sample form for a residence permit request;
• a photography;
• a document confirming the necessary subsistence;
  
• a document confirming the envisaged place of residence in the Republic of Latvia;
• a document certifying that the payment for the real property acquired has been made by non-cash means of payment;
• a document certifying that the foreigner has no real property tax debts if he owns the real property more than one year;
• a statement on punishability issued by a competent institution of the citizenship or the host country (for a foreigner more than 14 years old), if a foreigner has resided in that country longer than 12 months;
• a document confirming the state duty payment.

* cities of Republic of Latvia are: Rīga, Jūrmala, Daugavpils, Liepāja, Jelgava, Jēkabpils, Rēzekne, Valmiera, Ventspils.
