Notification about residence address abroad

In case, if an individual resides outside Latvia longer than six months, the individual is under obligation to notify the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs or a consular or diplomatic mission of Latvia about his or her residence address, as well as about residence address of his or her child abroad. To notify about place of residence abroad, the individual must write an application by providing information about him or her, his or her child and address abroad.

It is possible to notify about residence address abroad also electronically by using e-service "Application for registration of place of residence abroad". To use this service, one needs secure electronic signature issued by State joint stock company Latvijas Pasts.

When notifying about place of residence abroad, the data about the previous address of place of residence of an individual in Latvia in the Population Register will be automatically replaced by data about the new address of place of residence abroad. Therewith an individual does not need to address a relevant institution to annul data about its declared address of place of residence in Latvia.

Upon return to Latvia, an individual must declare his or her place of residence in the Republic of Latvia.
