 EMN National Contact Points
NATIONAL CONTAT POINTS
The European Migration Network is composed of a network of the national contact points designated by the Member States and the European Commission.
The National Contact point performs the tasks at the national level and particularly:
- provides the country reports, among them the reports related to migration and asylum, including the data concerning the policy developments and statistic, and researches on the particular migration and asylum issues, which are necessary for the policy development support;
- creates the mechanism in order to issue ad hoc requests received from other national contact points and to response quickly;
- creates and develops a national migration network involving partners, organisations and persons from a wide range actively operating in the migration and asylum area and relevant interested parts are represented.
Currently within the framework of EMN 17 EU Member States, besides Latvia, also have established:
The meetings of the EMN usually take part five times at least during a year. The objectives of the regular EMN’s meetings are:
- to provide the opportunity for national contact points to exchange the experience and knowledge, particularly as regards to the operation of the EMN;
- to evaluate the results achieved during the EMN’s operation, particularly as regards to the preparation of reports and researches;
- to create a ground for discussions on practical and legal problems which the Member States meet in the field of migration and asylum;
- to consult with the national contact points on the elaboration of the annual programme of the EMT’s activities.
