• The Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs as the Latvian contactpoint of the European Migration Network has developed study “The Organization of Migration and Asylum Policy in Latvia”. The aim of this study is to describe the structure of migration and asylum policy in Latvia for the time period from 1991 till 2008 including. Political, legal, institutional frame of the migration and asylum field as well as the development of the migration and asylum system and political organization of the migration and asylum has been described in the study.
  

Besides Latvia also all other National contactpoints of the European Migration Network developed the study that will allow the European Commission to draw general conclusions about the efficiency of the migration and asylum policy in the European Union.

The national contactpoints of the European Migration Network will regularly update the study so that the policy makers and other persons could fallow the changes in the migration and asylum field.

• Work has been finished on the Statistical Report on Asylum, Legal and Illegal Migration in the Republic of Latvia in 2006. The report was developed on the basis specification and structure designed by the European Commission and adopted by the European Migration Network’s contact points. The main objective of the report is the analysis of trends in the area of asylum, legal and illegal migration, thus encouraging comparison and interpretation at European and international level.
  

• The European Migration Network has published the latest work: the synthesis report on analysis and interpretation of migration and asylum statistics (reporting years 2004 and 2005). The synthesis report covers the results of analysis of migration and asylum statistics in the context of the European Union. This synthesis report has been prepared on the basis of country reports from 17 European Migration Network contact points.
